Hemerocallis ‘Stella d’Oro

Photographed in my yard in Wilmington, NC on April 11, 2016.  Hemerocallis translates to mean beautiful for a day. Each flower only remains open for the day, but another is waiting in the wings for tomorrow.  Combining multiple flower stalks and numerous buds on each plant provides for maximum color over multiple weeks in the late spring.  Stella is a dwarf Daylily and among a group of repeat bloomers, which will further extend bloom time into the summer months. Known as the “OYRB” (original yellow repeat bloomer) on the tough streets of flower beds near you, Stella has set the precedent for small, tough and beautiful hybrid daylilies that grace our cultivated spaces from sea to shining sea.
