Candy Stripe Moss Phlox

Phlox subulata ‘Candy Stripe’

Photographed at Brunswick Community College Supply, NC on March 6, 2016.  This old thang is your grandmothers, grandmothers’ plant.  Yes, this species of Phlox has been around that long.  Blankets of bright purple, pink, white and blue flowers covering the ground in late winter and early spring adorn old homes and neighborhoods all over the Eastern US. ‘Candy Stripe’ is a white flower, colored with a nail polish pink stripe smack down the middle of each petal.  A great old-fashioned rock garden plant that will creep and sprawl into a wonderful groundcover with history.
